The 5th Edition of the Global Social Economy Forum (GSEF) will be held in 2021 in Mexico City. It will be the first time that the most important forum for Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) at a global level will be based in Latin America.
GSEF2021 will be an unique opportunity to call for dialogue and action, under the hospitable and warm tradition of Mexico City, representation of national and local governments, members of civil society, academia, researchers, experts, private organizations, as well as international organizations committed to the development of the SSE at a global level, with the intention of involving them in the eradication of the iinequalities in our societies.
To achieve this, in July 2019 the Memorandum of Understanding was signed by means of which the GSEF was formalized in Mexico City, initially scheduled for 2020. However, given the current context that prevails in Mexico and in the world for the coronavirus pandemic (COVID19) and sensitive to this situation, the decision was made to postpone the face-to-face Forum to 2021.
GSEF and the Local Organizing Committee of towards GSEF2021 -constituted by the Government of Mexico City through the Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDECO), the Secretariat of Labor and Employment Promotion (STYFE) and the General Coordination of Advisors and International Affairs ; and The Government of Mexico through the National Institute of Social Economy (INAES) of the Ministry of Welfare-, aware that the world situation required spaces to think about more social and inclusive development possibilities, made the decision to carry out virtual activities: "Webinars towards GSEF2021" and the "Virtual Forum", both held in 2020.
In such a way that, the GSEF2021 will gather the ideas that in 2020 were generated by different actors in the distance scheme and will have the opportunity to open new possibilities in its face-to-face format. GSEF and the Organizing Committee invite you to closely follow the preparatory activities for this Global Social Economy Forum 2021. See you in October, in Mexico City!
